NOTICE FROM CHARLESTON PILOTS – (SEE ATTACHED)
Please be advised the Coast Guard has recently re-positioned buoys marking our extended entrance channel for the Port of Charleston. ENC charts showing the changes are now available
for download. The new buoy locations are noted in the linked Local Notice to Mariners. We advise you to please update your ENC's, and also make corrections to your paper charts as noted in the Notice linked below for NOAA Charts 11521 and 11528 (pages
46 and 47).
The changes are:
Buoys "C", "2" and "4" were repositioned.
A new Buoy, "2A" was established between buoys "2" and "4"
Buoys "1" and "3" were decommissioned and removed.
The result of these moves is that Buoys "C", "2", "2A", and "4" are all aligned on the north side of the channel, and there are no longer any green buoys seaward of buoy "7".
The locations of the existing pilot boarding areas has not changed. Locations for the new buoy positions are as published in the Notice to Mariners at this link: https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/pdf/lnms/lnm07192022.pdf
