NEWS ARTICLES: (10/08/21) A message from Port Tampa Bay to our customers, tenants and community
First cruising sailing from Port Tampa Bay since March 2020 takes place on Oct. 16
Port Tampa Bay has enthusiastically announced that the resumption of cruise operations from our port will begin on October 16, 2021. Royal Caribbean International’s Serenade of the Seas will depart for the Bahamas from Port Tampa Bay. Tampa
has long been regarded as an attractive homeport thanks to the variety of quality hotel and dining options, our world-class beaches, and nearby attractions. The return of the cruise industry will have a far-reaching economic impact on our entire region and
we celebrate alongside our partnering organizations and agencies, as well as the numerous tourism-related businesses that will benefit from the visitors we bring through the area.
Port Tampa Bay will host a press conference with Royal Caribbean International, AAA South and Visit Tampa Bay on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 9 a.m. ahead of the Serenade of the Seas inaugural sailing from our port.
Port Tampa Bay wins prestigious Lighthouse Award of Excellence from the AAPA for its first annual Great Port Cleanup
Port Tampa Bay is proud to announce that we have won the American Association of Port Authorities Lighthouse Award of Excellence for Environmental Enhancement. The port received the honor for its inaugural Great Port Cleanup, which is recognized
as a model for other seaports throughout the Western Hemisphere. The first-annual Great Port Cleanup took place on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, 2021, in partnership with Propeller Club – Port of Tampa and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful. During this inaugural event,
342 port partners and other dedicated community volunteers safely removed more than 19K pounds of trash and marine debris from 23 sites in and around our port. While the majority of this debris originates from outside of the port, Port Tampa Bay recognizes
our daily connection with our local waters and is dedicated to doing our part to eliminate marine debris and support trash-free waters in Tampa Bay.
The American Association of Port Authorities’ Lighthouse Awards recognizes the best port programs and projects that stand as a beacon of excellence across the maritime industry. Since 1973 the organization has recognized activities which
benefit the environment at its ports and presented environmental awards. The Association accepts awards from its port members and considers four project award categories: Environmental Enhancement, Mitigation, Stakeholder Awareness, Education & Involvement
and Comprehensive Environmental Management. Port Tampa Bay took top honors in the Environmental Enhancement category.
The regular business meeting of the Tampa Port Authority, d/b/a Port Tampa Bay, Board of Commissioners will be conducted both in person and by communications media technology on the Zoom platform. The hybrid virtual meeting will be held
at Port Tampa Bay’s Joseph Garcia International Center (1101 Channelside Drive, Tampa, FL 33602).
The October 19, 2021, hybrid virtual meeting will have a quorum of Board members physically in attendance and other Board member and staff may be attending in person or participating through the Zoom platform. During the hybrid virtual
meeting, attendees may view content being presented, hear speakers and make public comment.
