PORT LIMITS/INFORMATION

Maximum Depths - (Brackish)
 
Harbor entrance –  36’08 – up to 39’08 with tide is straight out of the Pilot book it is very unlikely that a plus 3 foot tide is ever available.  We recommend no more that plus 1 foot over the 36’08” restriction so that vessel can easily get in on at least one plus slack water almost every day or the year.

Berth 7 -  38’10”
Berth 8 - 36'08"
Berth 9 -  38’10”
Berth 10- 38’01”
Berth 14- 37’ 10” + Tide
 
The restrictions for docking at Port Manatee are as follows.  However, please contact the agents for any vessel with a draft of 36’06 to confirm actual tidal restrictions, as they change daily.
 
Tampa Bay Pilots guidelines and/or handling for recommendations for vessels transiting the main shipping channel:
 
Draft: To From Sea
Draft less than 30 ft docking or sailing anytime
30 ft to 35 ft require 0.5 knot current or less for docking or sailing
Greater than 35 ft requires slack water
 
Draft: Shifts to or from the north
Draft less than 27 ft  - Anytime
27 to 33 Ft – current 0.3 Knots or less
Draft greater than 33 Ft - Slack water
 
Max LOA 900 ft
Vessels between 700 and 800 feet require less than 0.5 kt current anytime
Vessels 800 ft and over require slack water for all movements
 
Only 1 vessel with draft greater than 36 ft per slack water movement

FEDERAL, STATE & LOCAL FILING REQUIREMENTS


96 Hours - advance notice of arrival required by USCG
72 Hours - The Harbormasters office requires a 72 hour minimum notice of a vessel arrival. Any time less than 72 hours will be considered short notice and could result in vessel's delay to berth.
48 Hours - advance receipt of crew list by Immigration for any vessel arriving from a foreign port, or arriving coast wise with detained crew.
24 Hours (minimum) - Foreign cargo must have manifest submitted to Customs & Border Patrol AMS.
24 Hours - advance fax of crew list and approved visitors required by Port Security Officer.
Port Security - All persons doing ship’s business within Port Manatee must have TWIC and a Port-issued ID Badge.  Someone not having one or both must be escorted.  Vehicles must have permanent company markings to be allowed onto any terminal.

MARINE WEATHER: 319 AM EDT Mon Oct 21 2019      .SYNOPSIS...Weak high pressure across the Florida Panhandle will  slide northeastward through Mon night, while a warm front over  the E Gulf dissipates. A cold front will reach the NW Gulf Mon  night, and move gradually southeastward, reaching from central  Florida to offshore of NE Mexico to western Bay of Campeche by Wed  morning. The front should then stall and slowly weaken through  early Thu. Strong NE winds are expected behind the front Tue  through Wed morning. Winds will gradually veer southeastward  across the basin Thu in advance of next cold front, which is  expected to reach the Texas coast Fri morning. Gale force N winds  are possible behind this front late Fri in the W Gulf.    $$
