<span-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Courier New";color:black">HOUSTON — Kinder Morgan Inc. and Shell announced Wednesday afternoon they have reached an agreement for Kinder Morgan to buy 100 percent of Shell’s equity interest in Elba Liquefaction Company, LLC, which owns the Elba Liquefaction Project that will be built at the Elba Island LNG Terminal on the Savannah River just east of Savannah.

<span-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Courier New";color:black">Kinder Morgan currently owns 51 percent of the joint venture and will buy the remaining 49 percent owned by Shell. Shell will agree to accept 100 percent of the liquefaction capacity.

<span-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Courier New";color:black">The transaction is expected to cost Kinder Morgan approximately $630 million and will bring its investment in all the liquefaction and terminal facilities at Elba Island to approximately $2.1 billion.

An application to export to non free-trade countries is pending. The Elba Liquefaction Project is expected to have a capacity of approximately 2.5 million tons a year of LNG for export, which is equivalent to approximately 350,000 cubic feet per day of natural gas.
