PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE<span-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">

<span-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:black">As President this past year, I have enjoyed every minute representing the Propeller Club of Charleston. We have had some very good meetings and you owe it to yourself to come join us. We already have some fine programs lined up after our summer break, beginning with the State of the Port Address September 14th. Jim Newsome has promised us some very good news at that luncheon. We will have a Mayoral Candidates' debate in October and our annual Holiday Party in December. In the spring we will host the Southeast Regional Conference, along with our regular monthly meetings.

The Maritime Community in Charleston continues to grow and our Club will continue to provide communication, networking and scholarships. I look forward to another fine year before turning over the reins to Captain John Cameron and we look forward to your participation and continued support.

Rod Moseley

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">1. Surface observations and satellite data indicate that the broad

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">area of low pressure over the south-central Gulf of Mexico has

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">changed little over the past several hours.  The system's

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">circulation is not well-defined, and the associated shower and

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">thunderstorm activity remains disorganized.  The low continues to

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">produce tropical storm force winds well to the east and northeast of

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">the center.  Upper-level winds are forecast to gradually become more

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">favorable while this system moves northwestward during the next

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">day or two across the western Gulf of Mexico, and a tropical

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">depression or tropical storm could form during that time.  A

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">Hurricane Hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate the system

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">later this morning.

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">the middle and upper Texas coast and the western Louisiana coast

<span-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">Monday night and Tuesday.  There is also a risk of heavy rainfall
