Good Afternoon:

The Maritime Association of SC (MASC) was recently engaged in a conversation with some ships'  agents concerning the requirements for certain paper documentation by CBP and Coast Guard for the entrance and clearance of vessels in the Port of Charleston.  The discussion revolved around the issue of replicating the electronic transmission of manifest data in hard copy form (particularly with respect to the Traveler copy of the manifest).  It was suggested that MASC host a meeting to discuss this issue with all the involved parties.

Further, as some of you may recall, at one time the Maritime Association of SC hosted a regular meeting with  ship's agents and CBP to facilitate information exchange and provide a forum for regular discussion of issues unique to the vessel entry and clearance process.  A suggestion has been made that we consider once again hosting these meetings.

MASC is committed to facilitating the business of the maritime industry in whatever way possible.  Accordingly, we are reaching out to each of you regarding your availability for a meeting on July 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at our office (899 Morrison Drive) for a discussion concerning reporting of ships'  arrival and manifest data electronically vis a vis hard copy; and secondarily whether there is a desire to reinstitute a schedule for regular meetings to discuss report of arrival and vessel entrance and clearance issues.  Please let us know whether you will attend the July 30th meeting.

Pam
